Finding the Best Way Forward

for Any Family Law Dispute

COVID-19 Announcement

To our valued clients,

UPDATE Regarding Governor Hogan’s Stay at Home Order issued:

Parents who have court orders providing for children to spend time with both parents that require transportation between the parent’s home are permitted to travel back and forth under Governor Hogan’s new stay-at-home Order.  The Order specifically permits “travel required by a law enforcement officer or court order.”

We are open and here to help you.

If you have having a domestic violence concern or a concern about your custody schedule, contact us and we will work with you to help.

Avery & Upton has been continuing to operate during this difficult time.  We have expanded our use of telephone and video conferencing to reduce the need for in person meetings.  Most of us are working from home however, our physical office is minimally staffed to receive mail and to redirect telephone calls.  Email is the best way to reach us at this time.

We are accepting new clients and will conduct initial consultations by telephone or through video conferencing,

For those clients who are in litigation, the courts have updated their status and all courts are closed to the general public and all hearings, mediations, and parenting classes are postponed at least until May 1, 2020. There is a chance that cases will be further postponed. The courts are open for domestic violence cases, protective orders and emergencies.

For clients who are not in litigation, your cases will continue apace.  Some meetings and mediations have been postponed or may be done by video conference and others may be delayed in the future as we all learn how to operate in this new environment.

We appreciate your patience as we adapt to these necessary adjustments.  To everyone, practice good hygiene and social distancing and stay well.
